Safe Work Method Statement: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Management at Work

Do you or a close family member been in close contact with an infected person ?

If so, notify your Supervisor: leave a contact phone number: go home and self- isolate – right now!

Contact a health clinic for ongoing support


Your Workmates at this Site

If someone starts work today with flu-like symptoms. Advise them to:
1. Stop work now!
2. Take their tools -leave and self-isolate at home.
3. Wash down & clean any tools-in-common usage at site.
4. Record a note on your phone of this event.

Notify your supervisor.

Advise other workers to stay clear.


Hard Surface Management

All hard surfaces of Tools used in common -example (probably only one Drain Cleaner or Concrete Cutter on site).
Clean the parts where your hands & fingers would normally touch – before and after individual use.

Regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces such as door handles.
On your work ute, clean both driver and passenger side door handles.
Clean steering wheel and controls if more than one person likely to use vehicle.

At the Servo : put on disposable gloves before you leave the Cab to fill up. (Many people have used that Fill Control).
Pay by credit card only – stop using cash!


Social Distance and Hygiene in preventing the spread of infection at work . (at a Job site or in an office or Work shed.)

  • Clean your hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or bent elbow when coughing or sneezing, dispose of tissues immediately after use and wash your hands or apply hand sanitiser.
  • Avoid touching your face, nose and mouth and shaking hands.
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is unwell. Try to stay 1.5 metres away from anyone coughing or sneezing.

Put on disposable gloves such as the Blue Hercules Brand whenever you go to the Lunch Place or Take-away.

Monitor and review to ensure that the activity being supervised to confirm the documented process is being followed. Review SWMS whenever activity changes conditions or personnel. This SWMS should be reviewed weekly or when additional Government Health Measures announced.
